Volunteers donate countless hours in support of the SOCIETY’S mission and purposes. In addition to the donation of volunteer hours, donations are needed to support special projects, programs and activities.

If you would like to donate to a specific project being undertaken by the society, there are links below which will ensure your kind contribution is targeted and used only for that purpose. If you are happy to let the Society decide how best to use your money to meet our current financial needs, you can use the following link to our CanadaHelps general donation page, and contribute to fulfilling the purposes listed above. We are very grateful to all our donors, whether they have provided substantial sums (please see the link below for tax efficient donations) or donated a small amount. Be assured – every cent counts and is put to good use in support of the principles of the Society.

The Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society Special Projects Fund supports programming and activities such as the 2021 Paul Spriggs Alpine Crevice demonstration held on September 19, 2021. Demonstration like this require the acquisition of special materials and plants in addition to drawing on the expertise of world class experts like Paul Spriggs to share their knowledge. The Alpine crevice demonstration took well over a year to plan. Society volunteers sourced the unique raw materials and constructed the light weight tufa troughs. Volunteers planted the rare alpine plants exhibited in each trough.
The Welcoming Centre at Darts Hill Garden Park will elevate visitor experience. Creating a strong visual focus as visitors enter the garden, it will also provide much needed space for educational programing. This is a big step into the future of the garden.
Designed by Public Architecture, the flexibility and strength of this design is evident in the multitude of amenities the Welcoming Centre will provide:
Following the vision of Francisca and Edwin Darts, Darts Hill Garden provides a unique opportunity for residents of the City of Surrey and surrounding communities to explore and learn about rare and unusual plants. The Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society and the City of Surrey eagerly look forward to having a facility which supports our educational objectives to provide programing for large tours, school groups and many others.
At the end of the every calendar year many turn their minds to making donations to registered charities such as the Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society and obtaining income tax receipts. For those that have the good fortune of owning an investment portfolio which comprises equities (stocks) there is a more beneficial way of making donations.
For example, selling an equity position (a winner) to raise cash to make a charitable donation, 50% of the resulting capital gain would be added to your income for tax purposes.
However, this is not applicable if the donation of the equity position is to a registered charity. Since the capital gain is not realized in your hands, the charity benefits 100% and you get a receipt (for the full value of the equity donated) which will help in reducing your income tax. Everyone benefits, the charity and you.
Should you wish to donate a security or mutual fund to the Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society, (now a Registered Charity #862857935RR0001 for income tax purposes) the Society has established two ways in which you are able to do this by using 1) ‘CanadaHelps’ or 2) our own Society’s Bank’s Investment firm ‘RBC Dominion Securities’.
