Shade Structure

Thanks very much to members, Ross Williams, Graham Laine, Pat Mobberley and Ken Steele of the DHGCTS Plant Propagation and Plant Sales group who completed construction of the new shade house at Darts Nursery June 30. The entire project from design, cost estimation, materials purchase and construction was done by Group members.  Sturdy pressure treated posts were set in concrete in the first stage of construction and left to set for a week or so. Then the beams and stringers were fixed in place and the cedar lathe was added. The lathe house is a very attractive and functional addition to Darts Nursery, allowing volunteer propagators to grow and sell a wide selection of ferns, colourful primulas and other lovely woodland plants. The income derived via plant sales of this active volunteer Group assist the Darts Hill Garden Conservancy Trust Society in its stewardship role of the garden. Next time you visit Darts Hill Garden Park, checkout the new entry Beds 4e and 7s, almost all the plants planted there this past June were propagated and grown by the DHGCTS Plant Prop Group.
