Re: Cancellation of
“Get Growing” Spring Open House on Saturday April 25 at Darts Hill Garden Park
This week, you’ve received a large number of messages from organizations you’re connected to, telling you about precautions to take around the COVID-19 pandemic. Updates are changing at a rapid speed.
At 5 pm Friday March 13, Dan Nielsen, COS, and I spoke at length about COVID-19 and Park Operations at DHGP. It should be no surprise that the upcoming “Get Growing” Spring Open House on Saturday April 25 at Darts Hill Garden Park is cancelled. There may still be the opportunity to offer a Plant Sale on that day.
While risks to DHGCTS members and visitors remain very low, please follow the recommendations and guidelines of health officials, the Public Health Agency of Canada and recommendations of Vancouver/Fraser Coastal Health including washing your hands frequently using proper techniques; not touching your face; covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing; maintaining appropriate social distance; using alternate measures for greetings; and staying at home if sick.
It is very important that if you feel ill, please do NOT visit the garden, attend a DHGCTS committee meeting or participate in a work party until you feel better. While it’s also cold and flu season, and there are many reasons why you may feel ill, the Provincial Health Officer is recommending that any symptoms of illness are a good reason to give yourself some room from others to reduce the risk of any type of transmission.
DHGCTS Kokedama workshop on March 28, 2020 is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.
